GIRASOLES organized a series of workshops in four municipalities of Estelí, Masaya, León y Matagalpa.

In October, the Asociación de Trabajadores Sexuales GIRASOLES organized a series of workshops in four municipalities of Nicaragua. Among Estelí, Masaya, Leon and Matagalpa, 385 fellows participated in the meetings. Currently, each leader is responsible for 15 fellows with whom they replicate all the information, so that the training came to a much larger number of sex workers women. The meetings held were called «Let’s hear your voice” and was funded by local UNFPA. In this regard, Maria Elena Davila, representative of the organization said that «the objective is to learn to listen ourselves and listen others, to value what unites us and separates us from the reality we are living daily. And by making a comparison with previous year’s workshop, I think they are changing, they are more confident and there are more fellows who dare to participate. I think we’re growing a lot». And she concluded: » Today we realize that we’re together, we are important, there is no difference between us… Today we decide our lives, choose what to think, choose our tastes, choose to take decisions… Today we are different».
