In concentrated HIV epidemics, such as that faced by Argentina, to estimate the size of the most vulnerable populations is critical to planning an effective response.

Between March 15 and 17, AMMAR participated in the workshop «Estimation of sizes of Vulnerable Populations and of difficult access,» organized by the Ministry of Health of the Nation and UNAIDS. In concentrated HIV epidemics, such as the one faced by Argentina, to estimate the size of the most vulnerable populations is critical to planning an effective response.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the different populations (Trans, intravenous drug users —IDUs—, Men who have sex with men —MSM—, sex workers women) and representatives of HIV provincial programs and NGOs. This meeting is part of the preliminary research that will be developed in Argentina in the coming years with support from UNAIDS and the Global Fund.
