On the pretext of an integration meeting, Ipiales police tricked sex workers to take them prisoners.

Ipiales police proposed a meeting on August 25 with the Asociación de Mujeres Buscando Libertad (ASMUBULI) with the supposed purpose of deal jointly with the problem of public order in San Felipe Park. The organization agreed that the meeting would take place in the Hall of the Convento de las Hermanas Filipenses. Fidelia Suarez, ASMUBULI leader and representative of the RedTraSex in Colombia says that «they requested our help to create spaces of participation and to look for strategies to conduct campaigns for the welfare of sex workers that used the San Felipe Park of Ipiales. It was a meeting of integration and friendship to avoid collisions and violations and to lead the citizenship to a good coexistence”. But the invitation was just an excuse to arrest our fellows. «Suddenly, everything became a police operation, we did not know why we were repressed and then they took one of our fellows».

After this attack, the representative of ASMUBULI —Fidelia Suarez— submitted a letter to Police Chief of the District informing about what happened and asking for the immediate release of her fellow who was released the next day afternoon.
