Onaem in the march for the International Day of the Fight against AIDS.
On December 1st, in Cochabamba, the Organización Nacional de Activistas por la Emancipación de la Mujer (ONAEM) participated in the march for the International Day of the Fight against AIDS. This was the first time that sex workers women from all over Bolivia participated without masks. «We want the Law 3729 on HIV/AIDS to be respected», said Evelia Yucra, President of the Organization for the newsletter of their organization, and remarked: «Stop abuse and discrimination. We want resources to ensure free health care and medicines for people living with HIV». Recently fellows from ONAEM reported that a sex worker woman living with HIV went to the hospital of Viedma and they wanted to charge her for health care.
The march, in which different institutions involved with HIV-AIDS participated, ended in the main square “14 de septiembre”, where they performed a series of exhibitions that lasted until late afternoon.
