As part of the workshop in Lima, members of the RedTraSex held meetings with officials from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. They also presented the project being implemented by the network at the CONAMUSA Peru.


Coinciding with the date of the workshop organized by the Network for female sex workers, referents in each country, the Global Fund officials
—Noemie Restrepo (Portfolio Manager) and Nuria Diez Ungo (Programme Officer)— traveled to Peru to monitor the progress of programs funded by the Global Fund in the country, a situation that allowed the coordination of formal meeting for presentations.

The Fund officials met with the fellows, female sex workers of the network, who shared the progress of the project, explained the realities of each country and the efforts they have to do to participate in Country Coordinating Mechanisms so that the voice of female sex workers be present in those areas of decision.

Agendas allowed to take the opportunity for the Network of Female Sex Workers submit the project being conducted with support from the Global Fund at the CONAMUSA General Assembly (Country Coordinating Mechanism of Peru). The project aims to develop the capabilities of RedTraSex organizations to improve programs implementation (including those funded by the Global Fund), the design of policies and the review of legal frameworks involving female sex workers to reduce their vulnerability to HIV, at national and regional level.

Elena Reynaga, Executive Secretary of RedTraSex, and Elizabeth Esmeralda Molina López, coordinator of the Andean Sub-regional Node and member of the Board of RedTraSex, were responsible for introducing the project and its progress to the CONAMUSA members, with the objective of ensuring complementarity between national and regional actions that national organizations of female sex workers can carry out in their HIV prevention work.
