Seeks to stimulate and promote action and empowerment to women sex workers in the country related to HIV
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria approved in 2008 (8th Round of funding) the project of the Government of Guatemala “Holding back HIV epidemic in Guatemala: Intensification of Activities in Prevention and Integrated Care among Vulnerable Groups and in Priority Areas”. In its third phase of implementation, OMES presented a project to the main receiver, HIVOS, which seeks to encourage and promote strengthen actions to and for sex worker women in the country. The plan was approved and it will soon begin to be executed. Among other things, seeks to know the experience of sex worker women on the quality of care that health centers and other institutions provide them and the performance of these places’ staff regarding sexual prophylaxis attention provided to sex worker women. The purpose of this survey is to formulate conclusions and recommendations aimed at improving the quality of the work of institutions and health centers in relation to the health care of sex worker women.
