RedTraSex was founded in 1997 during a meeting in Costa Rica at which female sex workers (FSW) from the region were able to meet for the first time.
It gave us an opportunity to get to know each other and we found out that we had the same needs and were suffering the same injustices despite living in different countries. We are guided by our quest for recognition of the rights we sex workers have as human beings: our right to work, to equal treatment, to non-discrimination, to freedom, rights that are constantly denied us.
