Members of La Sala participated in a journey of workshops and lectures on “HIV prevention” and “Use of condoms” for students of the Police Academy of Costa Rica.

That day, dedicated to the health of the students of the Academy, men and women were able to do medical tests and consultations of different types.

It is the first time that La Sala visits the Police Academy and the workshop leaders were very satisfied with the results. «We reach more than 120 people, who were very interested in learning more about the female condom and that’s why, from La Sala, we are thinking in doing a second meeting«, said Nubia Ordoñez, president of the organization member of RedTraSex.

In a future visit, they are going to address awareness about sex work. «In our area of work, the situation with the police is much better, because they know that we are with La Sala and we’re going to intervene against any abuse. It is worth working with students who will be future police officers«, said Nubia.

La Sala opened the doors of the organization so that the police give workshops, and has given lectures for them to know better about the work of the organization and the rights of female sex workers.

As demonstrated by the experience of La Sala, against violence and abuse, female sex workers talk, teach and they organize themselves for live freely, without stigma or discrimination.
