To demand justice for the five children who died on January 9 after a fire in the Tocumen Compliance Center.
On January 27, the fellows of the Sex Workers Women Network of Panama participated in a march in Defense of Life and Human Rights, organized by the Coordinadora de Lucha, FRENADESO and SUNTRACS to demand justice for the five children who died on January 9 after a fire in the Tocumen Compliance Center. The protest of around 2,000 people set off from a downtown park to presidency, where they presented a document with consensuated demands that inspired the march. Among the claims, in addition to demand justice for the massacre in the Juvenile Compliance Center, they also asked for responses on potable water crisis and reforms to the Mining Code.
Regarding this subject, Juana Ramona Torres, one of the representatives of the organization, said: «this is a sad fact related to heavy-handed logic of the State of Panama that locks up children without even know their conditions of confinement or its re-socialization. We from our organization are part of a Legal Network that will follow the case. We will also insist on visits to women deprived of their liberty and the resolution of the poor conditions in which they are confined».
