With great joy, the magazine of the Costa Rican organization La Sala was presented. «Sexy Segura» (Sexy Safe) is dedicated to women, with a predominant focus on health issues
More than 60 female sex workers met in San José, capital of Costa Rica, on the place of the institution member of RedTraSex to witness the launch of this publication that will target, among other issues, the prevention of HIV.
During the meeting, presented a video that featured sex workers women of La Sala, where they tell about their goals as an organization dedicated to defending the rights of sex workers women and that their work is recognized by the State.
The maximum reference of La Sala, Nubia Ordoñez Ugalde, shared the objectives of this publication: “Our intention is to have greater visibility, create a national network that can accompany sex workers women in their organization and fight for their rights. For the fellows know that they are not alone, that we’re organized and that we can achieve any project that we propose”.
The project involved the cooperation of various NGOs, including UNAIDS, the United Nations Program on AIDS, and also ILPES, UNHCR and the Costa Rican Demographic Association.
It is known that only in the San José “red zone” there are over 400 sex workers working in commercial places and in the streets.
