“Sex, Drugs and HIV – Let’s Get Rational”

We share a very interesting presentation of Elizabeth Pisani. It has two years now, but remains valid. She challenges to the scientific world with her investigations, saying that public policies aimed at stopping the spread of the virus through treatment as prevention are insufficient.

From RedTraSex, we support this view and we argue that it is necessary to work on new policies that aim to modify the structural factors that affect sex work, such as health or labor laws. It is not enough distributing condoms among female sex workers, for example, if they are attended without a comprehensive focus when they go to a health center, regardless of their human and labor rights, being stigmatized and discriminated against.
